Probably cheaper to fix what you can,not what I'd class as major problems,,how long have you had it,and any signs of dampness which I'd regard as major,,,Gary

We have a couple of friends who are in their 80's. Like you they have a fairly old van. They go away once a month all year. Hardier than us! They know there's not much sense in buying a newer van, the clock is ticking and they like what they have.

He's fairly handy and will try and fix things but if he can't they find a workaround. The vans heating packed up, expensive to try and fix, so they use a caravan fan heater. Window cracked, I managed to find one from a scrap merchant on eBay. Other windows started to show signs of failure. Managed to find a rubber type seal sold by the meter which he's fixed externally into all the windows.

I guess what I'm saying is if you want to keep using it take each issue at a time and see if there's a solution that works for you and your budget.

Welcome to the Forum and realities of owning a caravan.

We have owned our 17 year old from new. You soon realise it is a work in progress project
where you hone all your diy skills, woodwork, plumbing, gluing, etc. Triggers broom!

Most broken things can be fixed easily and reasonably cheaply. Gas and electrical items need some caution. A lot of us on here have the knowledge to deal with them safely and competently. BUT never assume you can do it. Seek professional help / guidance .

Hi BillG Welcome to the forum probably cheaper to fix what you can get most items of ebay or caravan breakers, and then you could always get the gas and electric checked by AWS mobile caravan service engineer and if it in your budget I would have service and a damp check .
