Similar to Stevens answer we use a broken windbreak pole or a metal bar hammered into the ground, it does not get blown over (or blown around affecting the signal) and does not cost anything.

I use an aluminium tube, 5 feet by 2 inches, which I clamp in the dolly wheel bracket after removing the dolly wheel. By using the 5 feet aspect, it is possible for the dish to see over the caravan if the satellite is behind it. The length of the tube is governed by where you want to transport it - mine can be wangled into the front storage box.

If there is a sharp intake of breath from anyone about removing the support provided by the dolly wheel when parked, I have seen one instance of supplementary support being provided by using a scissor jack before removing the dolly wheel, but I must say that in 16 years of merely removing the dolly wheel there have been no detrimental effects at all.

Regards

Les.

Like similar replies, I use an old camera tripod, of which I have modified to hold the dish. Remember the dish does not need to be high, I keep mine on the lowest tripod setting as the signal hits from an angle (pretty much keep mine perpendicular to the ground, 90deg) so you should only need to raise if you want to miss some trees etc. I keep seeing people using the maxview tripod at about 5foot high and they have to because they tend to use the larger dish. I simply use a small sky dish (fine for UK) and keep it low, pegged to ground with couple large pegs and it works an absolute treat. Ive never had it blow over and it seems to blend in as opposed to a big dish on a high stand..

I hammer in a broom handle into the grass with a pointed end infact it may have been off a windbreaker at some point. I put it close to the towbar if I can and support it through the tow bar fittings
