Ive just bought an Omnisat 66cm kit.

I already have Sky at home (6 years)

If I bought another box from EBAY (approx £50) could I use my home SKY card in it and get all my channels as per home?

If not, why not and what do I have to do to get the channels, without having to take out a new subscription?

Please help?

the simple answer is yes the card from home will work fine plus you get all the home area news programmes where ever you are in the country as card is programmed to your home address. I did the same as you & got a spare box of ebay. Enjoy brian

Hi

NO, if you are a sky digital customer you have to phone sky and have the card associated to the box.

Easiest thing to do is take the box from home with you as your tour.

hi Sparkes, I was told this rubbish to by a sky dealer also, I took a chance, got a new sony digibox for home and used my old pace for the van, everything works fine with the main home card. Has anyone had any problems?

Hi

I only use the receiver in my caravan and just had to ring and get the Freesat from Sky card reactivated as some channels had dissapeared and were replaced with a message to call Sky.

The guy at Sky reckons that if the box isn't used regularly they switch the card off.

i simply leave a full set of cables and a spare remote etc in the caravan, then when the wife and i load the car i put in our sky box from home. no need to go untangling cables this way, just pull it forward and unplug all the leads.

this doesnt work with the Amstrad boxes though as they have a hard wired power lead.
