Satellite cable

Hi here

I am building myself a Satellite system to go into the van got most of the kit dish, tx10 free to air receiver. Cable has got me

stopped in my track,s.I have gone onto E bay. Have not got a clue

whats WF65,WF100 WEBRO Cable for sky only + HD whats HD Help???.

All I Need Is a cable which is flexable so it can be run inside the van to front locker so that I can put a inline f joint so it can then be conneted by fly lead to the dish.That way I can disconnect dish from locker also will help keep joint dry.

Hello Steve , As far as I know HD stands for High Definition ( picture that is ) , I would presume that normal Sky aerial cable will do the job with the screw conectors . Hope this helps ----- Another STEVE .

Hi Stephen

I've just rigged up my satellite and I had similar thoughts to you.

I've routed my cable under the front seats, up behind the anti-condensation board to where the telly will sit and then the other end out through a hole that leads into the battery box where I can coil up the cable when it's not in use.

When on site, I simply uncoil the cable, connect it to the satellite LNB and Bob's yer firkin. The good thing about routing via the battery box is that the lid of the box is ready to accept cables and can be locked shut with the cables in situ.

Works a treat.

As for the type of cable - go into Maplins and ask the guys in there. They're very helpful, very knowledgeable and will show you the exact cable that you need.

Hi Stephen.... go to any D>I>Y> shop and get the coax cable that has the BLACK outer coating this will do the job quite nicely and its around 25pence a metre.

Cable does make a big difference.

go for a CT100 type cable, it is copper cored,copper sheathed and copper woven on the earth. The transmission from those type of cables is 100% to 200% better than the copper cored,alloy sheated stuff. It will cost a lot more approx

Steve,What you need is aerial cable with a solid copper sheath and male and female satelitie connectors. B&Q stock them, but to make a profesonal job purchase an internal/external satelite arial socket that will enable you to connect internally to your receiver and externally to your arial if you are using a dish arial, you will be able to get this from a caravan accessory shop.

Don't buy cheap cable, the frequencies used in satellite systems are much higher than normal terrestrial TV and the losses in the cable are much higher at these frequencies. So crap cable will give you a crap picture.

Use CT100/FT100 cable, Maplins sell it at
