Perhaps not quite what you're looking for but I have both Sygic and Tom Tom apps on my smartphone. The Sygic navigation app is very good but you can also have a Dashcam feature through it - although I don't use this feature.

The problem with a combination is that if the one goes faulty, you lose two functions. We prefer to have two separate units. Personal choice.

I’m a fan of Garmin satnavs and there are models in the range that have dashcams integrated. But I prefer the separate options as the Garmin isn’t permanently in the car, whereas the dash cam would be.

I bought a large screen iPhone deliberately to double as a Sat-Nav. So only 1 purchase necessary. I like the TomTom app. But its the Garmin that has the caravan feature as a paid for extra. I think I pay about £25 per year. That's about 12 years worth for the cost of a Sat-Nav. And can cancel when I want. Due to covid I have had poor use. but the reasoning is sound.

TomTom were adding the caravan feature but was not there when I made the decision. Might be now.

For Dashcam I use a NextBase 522GW which seems to works very well. At the back I have Mobius, that is really for drones of model cars, but has a dashcam mode which works well and its very small.

Fit and forget. Every so often (not often enough), I check they are working and re-format the card.

SORRY EMBARISING MISTAKE ADMISSION!

The SatNav App I have is CoPilot. Not Garmin.

TomTom have had the trailer facility since about 2015 the purchase of our original TomTom and it is brilliant. Used it in France and Spain no issues. I think most now have that sort of facility.

Staying with satnavs ,my first one was bought at one of the motorhome shows cost about £1000 plus for each country you had to insert a cd which cost I think about £100 each or was it for the pack, just cannot remember now. Even the name of it escapes me now except it had an American theme. Anyway the screen showed you route plus a pp showing whats in front of you up close. Next one we bought was TOM TOM the first to include caravan sites uk and europe. I do remember that one when in France we wanted to head for a place and it took us via a massive vin yard and wild country side , this was at late evening and betime we got to a main road which was on the set we gave up our destination an parked in layby overnight .

So here I am again after my first thread about dash cams . Bought Snooper SC5900 which has a built in dash cam. Or so I thought. It said on the box it has SD CARD for recording but mine has not. Phoned today and was told the card is extra £69+ which I thought was for their speed cameras etc. Has anyone on here got one?.

What size SD card does it require. Seems expensive, but if it’s data rich the price would be higher. This link shows it had an 8gb sd card included but a DVR sd card is sold separately.

I think £60 for the card is a bit over the top. Not to long ago I bought a SD card with 64GB and I think it was under £20?

But if the Snooper card contains lots of data it will be more expensive than a blank sd card.
If that is the case then the unit shoudl be returned for a full refund as it is useless without the data card. Generally with most Satnavs you insert a blank SD card and then add your own POIs onto the blank SD card like with our TomTom.

Looking for recomendations on these, we alrady have both but as seperate items . Our Snooper S5000 satnav is "had it"so looking at the combined ones
The advantage of the types of dashcam with GPS, is they not only record the video, but they also record the GPS time, location and speed, so you may a stronger case - But equally there have been cases where the Dash Cam has recorded the owner breaking the law.

A dashcam and a Satnav are two different types of units and it is unusual to find one that is combined. However you are correct about how a dashcam works. We prefer them to be separate items as the car has a built in Satnav .

That is why I stated GPS, not Satnav.

If you read the links to my post at #13 you will see the the device does what it says on the box in that it contains a SD card. But in the manual there's a note saying that a further SD card for DVR is sold separately so whilst it says on the box that it has an SD card that would seem too be referring to the 8gb one supplied. It could be that the internal 8gb contains data relating to perhaps a limited geographical area such as UK and Ireland. The additional card may cover the whole of continental Europe. Sending it back isn't really the answer, the OP should talk to Snooper.

Garmin, Tomtom and it seems Snooper all do satnavs with dash cams. My Garmin can even accept an auxiliary rear view dash cam.

So, rang Snooper this morning and it turned out that the £69 one is not for my unit DVR, all it needed was a 32gb card at £19 +pp
A good outcome, but £19 +pp is very expensive for an SD card. I bought a Sandisk Ultra 32 gb Class 10 for £5.99 from Amazon inc pp. Was the £19 se card a blank one, or does it contain data?
