sattelite cable

I have just fitted an external sattelite and fm socket to m y van and require a short sattelite lead from socket to reciever is there any diferance between t/v coax and sattelite apart from the plugs (the guy in the shop said t/v cable will be o/k)

If the question was is there a difference in "high quality" coax sold for digital TVs and coax sold for satellite the answer would be no.

However satellite does require better coax that you often can "get-away with" for TVs. It should have a foil screen and mesh screen, not just a wire mesh screen; this is needed because of the very high frequencies involved.

In certain circumstances any old coax will do but its absolutely no guarantee so best use the proper stuff, its not that the cable is expensive in the scale of things.
 
thanks for that info JTQ I guess the guy in the shop just wanted to sell me what he had in stock and not what was best as I only need 1 mtr the cost is no problem just have to shop around
