Bit of advice required please. A number of the sites in Aberdeenshire which we visit regularly at weekends have very poor tv reception. We have a directional aerial fitted to our van and use a tv with built in freeview but this gives poor picture. Question is, if we buy a sattelite dish, will this (plugged into the tv) allow us to view the freeview stations built in to the tv or would we need to buy anything else? I did ask one of the local dealers this question but was not convinced by the answer given.

Thanks

Graeme

You will also need a satellite specific decoder as the freeview decoder in your TV cant cope with the signal from the dish.

Be wary of cheep plasic dishes they are so small they have to be 100% locked on to the signal to get a good picture & one puff of wind and they loose lock. you can use adomestic decoder, even get a sky+ box if you want, but these are large. my decoder is car radio size and lives in a radio housing under the cupboard.

I've got an old domestic dish that i clamp to a scaffolding tube in the jocky wheel clamp. not light but its a good set up, best to pich facing the signal so you can have the dish low down otherwise it spoils the veiw.!
