I currently live in Sunderland and I am wanting to get to a site in Scarborough. Does anyone know the best way to get their, I know I cant go up Sutton bank but the A171 still has hills of 16%. is this the best route to take?
 
When we are returning from Scotland we usually stop of a few nights in Scarborough. We usualy leave the A1M at Jnc 59 and take the A167 heading for Whitby and the A171 for Scarborough.
 
Troy, Best route from Sunderland to Scarborough down the A19 turn onto the A174 at Teesside then follow the signs for Whitby then Scarborugh on the A171. No problems with a caravan and great scenery when you get passed Guisborough. Richard S
