Can anyone reccomend a good site in the area,we have been on various web-sites but we seem to be spoiled for choice.

There are only the two of us with no children but we have a t/a.

Many Thanks.

The first site we stayed at after getting our first ever caravan (also a t/a) was St Helens, just outside Scarborough.

It was over a bank holiday and was very busy, but we still had space and the facilities were kept spotlessly clean despite the number of people staying.

From what I remember, very friendly staff who were most helpful.

Would go back again if we wanted to visit the area once more.

If you are in the Camping and Caravanning Club you try the temporary holiday site at the top of Olivers Mount, you would have to check in Out and About to see when it will be available. Booking not necessary. I'm sure it was run by South Yorks DA. No hook ups though so make sure everything works on the gas and your battery is charged.

Easy walk into the town centre - down hill all the way, only 40 minutes to the furthest part of the prom. But a 4/5 quid taxi back avoids the up hill all the way back walk, if you've not taken the car.

West Ayton Caravan Club site is our favourite in that area but it is members only. Excellent fish restaurant close by, also take away chippy.

Camping and caravan club have great site on the North Shore, not far from the cycle way that takes you to Robin Hoods Bay.

The wife and l used to walk it with the dogs most days.

Great chippy on the site but make sure you follow the route in the site handbook when nearing Scarborough.

We go to a lovely CL in Cayton Bay, just 15mins out of Scarborough, been going there for the past five or six years its very quiet and peaceful with a pond in the centre where they have carp and a few other fish as well " sorry cant remember the names of the other fish". The site is called Sunset Strip CL. Its in the caravan book under Scarborough I think . The owners are lovely friendly people who just let you get on with things and enjoy your stay with them. Well worth a try. Of course if you like a little fishing as well you,ve cracked it there. If your interested I can let you have the page number anytime.

Hi Sheils - Have stayed at Jacobs Mount Caravan site twice and will be going back next season too.

Easy access through electronic barrier and lovely level pitches with EHU and drainage.

The site is spotless with clean showers (very important to me) and there is a good pub on-site which does lovely bar meals at night. Only wish they would do breakfast as well!

Very helpful staff and the little shop keeps basic foodstuffs as well as spares for caravans etc just in case.
