Scratched window

When we purchased our porch awning the saleswoman told us it was ok that the sponge edge came across the middle of a window, also she assured us it would not cause scuffing to the window. After the october break I noticed that it has scuffed the surface of the window, can anyone tell us

1/ How to remove scuffs and scratches from the window.

2/ What to put between glass and pad to prevent further damage.

hi see www.fenwicks.info for all your cleaning,they also do a scratch remover called windowize this will remove all your scratches.protection could be obtained useing clingfilm,only when the awning is up.it has been known to craze the window after long periods.but it worked for me.
