Has anyone had dealings with Seahopper folding boats?

I bought a boat from them at the London Caravan & Outdoor Show last November. Steve Rea, the owner promised that it would be delivered before Christmas. However, it didn't turn-up and he will not answer my phone calls. In the mean time have heard that SEAHOPPER FOLDING BOATS are a con. Any suggestions or advice?

Steve just googled this.

This time last year we were collecting our first batch of Kontenders from EPS and since then production has been in full flow. In May we started on our first batch of Stowaway 24's and this month we hope to swing back into action with the Stowaway 18. We had decided not to build these any more but we have been besieged by people on both sides of the channel asking when they will be back in production, so hopefully our first batch will be ready late February although most of them are already spoken for. So we start 2006 with a few Kontenders and 24's in stock which is what we have been trying to achieve for the last two years.

Best of Luck

Thanks Frank,

However, have you dealt with Seahopper Folding Boats?

Or,

is it just Stowaway?

From my understand they are two different companies.

I looked up their website - http://www.seahopperfoldingboats.com/

and must admit the phone # looked a bit dodgy so I dialled it ... 01823 665151 It did ring surprisingly although nobody answered which I suppose is understandable because its nearly 7p.m. As a business though I would have expected at least an answering machine.

Good luck Steve because it does seem a little suspicious. Perhaps it's worth contacting Watchdog, maybe others are in the same boat (pardon the pun).

Thanks folks, unfortunately I paid by debt card. -- I should of guessed something was wrong when he offered a discount for using debt instead of credit card! I thought a big shows like "Boat and Caravan" checked their Exhibitors?

Has anyone else dealt with Seahopper Folding Boat (Somerset)?

Did they get their money back or did they finally get a boat?

I see that a rival company called Stowaway also make folding boats (don't get confused with Seahopper).

Steve if you read the Stowaway web site they hint that you don't get what you pay for from your guy.

As said above

If you can get your email address to me I can give you another address for Mr Rea and another phone number that we are pretty sure is correct.

Just read article on Stowaway site.

Looks like my Seahopper folding boat will never turn-up. :-(

I can't make the Show in Feb, however it does look like you should keep away from STAND 5048A (Sea Hopper Folding Boats) if you don't want to be lied and stolen from!

I'll give the show organisers a phone call and complain...

Cris, can you email your details for Mr Rea to a1steveo@hotmail.co.uk

Steve

If your debit card has the Visa or Mastercard logo on it you may still have some protection - check out the BBC Working Lunch website, they did a piece on this a little while ago.

The protection is not under the consumer credit act but something else - not well publicised.

You do realise that it is a home address Steve don't you ?

So evening is a more likely time to get a response, I've suggested how you can prompt a response.

If the adddress is correct and you may well need that to take legal action such as Small Claims Court that is easy to get forms and do yourself.
