They can land men on the moon but as long asi can remember you can’t walk into a clean fresh public toilet, especially at the seaside.St Ives is supposed to be Englands Premier Resort but leaves a lot to be desired.Im used to them but god only knows what the foreign visitors must think.
I’m not prudish I an remember the big brass penny locks on toilets with 6 inch of water on the floor, plus the human anatomy drawings on the doors but we should have advanced a bit in 70 years

When was the last time you saw a 'toilet attendant'. I remember them in lots of public toilets when I was a kid, haven't seen one for years.

When in Cornwall in May went to Tintagel where there are always coach loads of foreign visitors. The toilets are turnstile pay on entry, but felt sorry for a wheel chair person who could not use a Toilet as both the Disabled RADAR key Toilets were padlocked up with locks top and bottom of of the doors. What ever do these foreign visitors think when they leave.

I remember a public toilet in Streatham. London that had glass cistern with goldfish in them, around 1960 s I am not sure if the toilet attendant lived there or not.

Fully agree,
You can buy RADAR keys .
They removed our village public toilets to save money, they said the money saved could be used to pay form traffic wardens, they never happened.

I have seen good bad poor and extremely poor in this country. But then same in France.

We once took a random ferry trip from Hong Kong. We got off at an island about 45 mins away. The island looked poor and unkept. We did not even fancy drinking from a can we bought in a shop. But desperation forced us to use the public loo. It would have done a top hotel justice. We went in on arrival and they were cleaning them. We went in 1 hour later before getting the ferry back. Cleaners still there. From memory they were free, and they also had showers.
