Hi everyone, Just got rid of our trusty old Elddis Mistral 1984 and bought an Avondale Wren from Ebay. What a disaster!! We travelled all the way to Burnley Lancs we had paid a £50 deposit and had to pay the rest in cash. First impressions of the seller were great they made us tea and cake and chatted away. We asked before bidding if the caravan was dry as we did not want any problems to fix. We were assured it was sound looked it all over paid our money and left with our new van. We parked it up in the storage place and returned the next day to have a look. As hubby opened the door the smell of damp just choked us! We never smelled this when we looked the van over but then the door was open when we arrived. Hubby traced the damp to an overhead locker and said it was minor (or so he thought). Son-in-law came the next day and said that he thought that the bubbles in the wall covering was a bad sign and proceeded to remove the psper. To our horror the wall was black and sodden in the wardrobe and the locker and then we discovered that the whole caravan side was the same. We are both disabled and find it hard to do these things. Son-in-law is an insurance assessor and fire and flood specialist so he put an industrial fan in the van along with a de-humidifier to dry it out after tracing the source of the leak and fixing it. It has taken 6 days to dry out and now we are faced with completely re-decorating and wall boarding. Needless to say we contacted the seller and sent him photos of the van damage and we are awaiting his response (none as yet) so a warning to you all TRUST NOBODY and take someone with you who knows about these things
