Securing window protector covering.

We have a Specialised Accessories cover for our van and were delighted with the protection it provided last winter (from October until June as we were unable to use it until late).

The only problem was that I taped pieces of the soft material SA provided to protect the windows with pieces of electrical insulation tape. The tape removed with no problem from the window frame or the side panels but it didn't stick too well to the material itself. A couple of these sheets came off and the movement of the cover in the wind, this caused some slight scratching to the windows.

Could anyone suggest perhaps either a better tape (Duck tape perhaps?) or any other way to secure the protective sheets?

I use the same cover. I dont actually bother covering the windows now - I dont think the cover does cause any significant scratches anyway.

That said - when I did use the window covers we cut them slightly oversize for each window and my wife stitched some elastic around the edges so that they simply hooked over the window edges and remained on all the time.

Hope this helps.

It's a bit fiddly, and best done with one person in the van and one out, but simply use oversize pieces of material, open the window a bit, wedge the stuff around the window and close it tight. I marked each piece in felt tip which window it fits for next time. Worked for us. We think the SA is the dog's danglies, BTW.

here is a tip for you i some times cover my windows with cling film to stop scratches when on the road works to, might do the same for you when ya cover it up.its a bit like the rap they use on new cars when they deliver them to the dealer.

Thanks for all your advice. The only thing is that I have heard that cling film can damage the windows if it is left on though (?)
