Below is a method of securing your jockey wheel mounted ariel when on hard standing.

The method is to place the bottom of the ariel in the hole then wind the jockey wheel down to clamp the wooden plate.

Great idea for hardstanding, for grass we used to use a tent peg driven into the grass, small enough to go inside the mast pole we used a wire peg with the loop flattened with a hammer.

Good idea but I use 2 clamps. They are spaced as far apart as possible. If the jockey wheel shaft is set high, they are fitted above the A frame. If the jockey wheel shaft is set low then one of the clamps is positioned above the A frame and one below or both below the A frame. This allows the mast to be clear of the ground and so be raised higher.

Going to do one for my flagpole, thanks a lot

Hi Dave, made one of these for the woosiefest back in October, but alas no flagpoles allowed. did use it at sussex though.
The bolt comes out for flat pack and the round head fits nicely in teh bottom of the pole.

Hi Gagakev a word of caution
If you are using a Carbon Fibre flag pole you could find it splitting on the bottom edge. I presume the pole sits over the head of the bolt and rests on the plate over the nut.
I make and fly kites using a lot of carbon fibre tubing and suffer a lot from split ends :) . You will find that if there is pressure on the pole causing a lever action between the bolt head and the nut on the base against the pole the carbon tube will split either at the bottom on the nut or where the bolt head is in contact with the tube. (It does not take much pressure) It would be best to support it by using tubing inside probably the same length as the bolt that is a very close fit to give support over a larger area.
Just a note - The reason carbon fibre flag poles do not split when you use long ground stake for support is that the leverage fulcrum distance is a lot greater so there is less leverage.
