Selling or Part exchange?

We have a trailer tent that is in very good (as new) condition that we've had from new but want to upgrade to a caravan now to be able to use it all year round. We're in a quandrie as to what to do with the trailer tent .... obviously we want the best price we can get so - have you part ex'd one before when buying a van or is that a bad idea? Would you recommend we sell it say on ebay (or anywhere else)? Help.....

When we were looking for our van, the dealers were offering us less than rock bottom prices for our trailer tent, so we sold it on Ebay and got

Private sale definitely then you can haggle the price down I was going to trade in my 2008 swift only 4 months old and was offered

Selling privately should give you the best price, however, it may be that the dealer who is selling you the van is very keen to make the sale and will give you a price close to what you want. Then it saves time and effort.

No harm in asking especially in these 'credit crunch' days.
