have just changed the van[pick new one up next week]and it's the 1st one i've had with a seperate header tank, could anyone advise me the best way to fill/empty the tank without getting the rinse all over the pitch,it has been suggested i use a watering can to fill it but there does'nt seem a lot of room.to empty there is just a yellow bung on the underside with no tubing, appreciate any help.

I use a 2 litre ex-cider container to add clean water into the flush tank inlet - a little spills but it's only clean water.

I use a medicinal measure, calibrated up to 60ml, for adding the flush fluid - it's small and can be tipped inside the inlet without spilling.

I add 2 litres of water, then the fluid, and top up with water.

I use BioMagic toilet fluid which is used in both top and bottom tanks - saves having two different fluids.

We have a separate header tank which has a tube to allow us to empty

I empty the holding tank ,rinse then prop that tank against the van and drain the header into the holding tank using this tube Double adsvantage, the header drains on its own whilst we carry on preparing to leave site and the holding tank receives a dose of fraganced fluid to eliminate lingering odours

Once drained just empty holding tank as normal

My last van had a side toilet and the shower head was the type that doubles up as a tap I used to just open the window and fill it up with the shower.

Can't do that with present van but if I am on a fully serviced pitch I just fill it up before plugging in the hose.

this one does'nt have the tube gill but it does have on the later models[mines a 2000]so i assume it was a design fault on the earlier models.

I used to use a small plastic gerry can with a spout to fill up the rinse but now use one of the plastic containers sold for carrying petrol/diesel.

Never drain my rinse between trips and have never had a problem. It is a bit messy draining but only do for a couple of months during winter.

We got a plastic joining piece which connects two pipes together ie just a straight pipe which is sold in all caravan shops, fit the a plastic tube on to one end and push the plastic pipe into the drain hole after removing the bung of course and drain.
