We have just purchased a Bailey Sancerre with fixed nearside bed and I am wondering about the necessity of buying shaped bedding. Has anybody out there any advice they could pass on?

Hi Carole

We use ordinary shaped bedding with no problem. Why pay more for something chopped off?

Cheers

We have had a fixed bed for several years and have recently invested in shaped sheets ( try sayint that after a night out)

They obviously fit the bed better so you have a sheet with no creases and are tidier during the day with no 'overhang'. We bought ours fron Jonic and are very pleased as we use our van a lot. Maybe not so financially beneficial as striaght sheets but we prefer them . Each to his own

hi,we bought new clubman and bought fitted sheets, duvet etc at a bit of a price but they do fit a lott better than normal bedding.less overhang and sheet with no creases.they are a bit expensive, infact they are a rip off really if you compare what you pay for seperates elsewhere, probably 1/3rd of the price

Hi Carole

we use ordinary fitted sheets and then use an elastic suspender type strap to pull in the corner.

You can buy packs of 4 elastic sheet straps on ebay for about

We bought the shaped bedding initially but it was very expensive and we were disappointed with the quality.

The material on the duvet cover and pillow cases bobbled after the first wash and Herself now uses good quality normal shaped bedding which is less expensive than the shaped products.

There are no more creases or overhang with normal bed linen if the bed is made up properly.

Like Pamela, we bought Jonic bedding for our Senator Virginia. However the duvet cover is nothing like the same shape as the duvet so you get bulges in places; the duvet cover is nowhere near symetrical and I think the cutter and machinist must have had a lot of a hangover that day. The four pillow slips are sort of two pairs ie two are differently cut to the other two and the sheet is two small so it fits to half way down the depth of the matress rather than the elastic pulling the edges under the matress like on a normal fitted sheet. I'm a bit annoyed with myself for not sending the whole lot back but we ordered it at the same time as the caravan and as the caravan hadn't arrived when the bedding came, I put the whole lot in our 'caravan cupboard' (where we store stuff at home that we don't leave in the van) until the 'van arrived by which time we would probably have been outside the time limit for any claim. (I did mention it to the people on the Jonic stand at a later show and got no response as my impression was they thought that once we had receieved the goods, their responsibility had ended.) We have used it because we have it and I suppose it is reasonably closer to the shape of the bed than conventional bedding which would have a large overhang. However if you know someone locally that could alter some M&S bedding, this may be a cheaped and neater solution and give a more aesthetic result. We may however have just had a bad lot that escaped quality control as Pamela has obviously had a different experience. I do however advise that, if you order something from Jonic, you check it thoroughly when it arrives and contact them immediately if there is a problem. Its probably my own fault for not being quite so conciensious and not being a bit more forceful when I did approach them but I'm not very good at finding fault with others.
