Shower and pump!

Help! We have just bought a Besscarr Cameo 525 2003. All seems to be working well, with the exception of the shower! When I run any of the taps, in either the kitchen or bathroom, the pump kicks in and the light lights up. When I try and put the shower on, it fails to activate the pump nor does the light light!

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

It sounds as if it is a system where the pump is switched on by a micro-switch in each tap (very likely in a 2003 'van). In this case the micro-switch in the shower tap has failed (or a wire has fallen off!). Fairly easy to fix.

I don't know your 'van, or your shower tap ....but it will be a case of getting access to the tap mechanism which will probably mean removing it from wherever it is mounted. This may involve disconnecting the water pipes if there is not sufficient slack to gain access. (They will probably be push-fit pipes which are easy, but you do need a 'technique' which really only comes with practice). Replacing the micro-switch may be fiddly, but should be fairly self-evident. The switch itself is usually a generic type which can be sourced very cheaply online ..... or can be ordered at considerable cost from a caravan store.
