Hello im a newbie
Went to check heating system on my mums static to find a water leak from outside, hubby fixed that and then gushing water came from mixer tap in the shower and a leak under the boiler. We suspect this is from the weather as it wasn't drained over the winter. Help please mum is due at caravan today :(

As it is a static van, you must contact a properly qualified engineer to carry out any work on the systems as the van is treated in the same way as a permanent home and as such requires Gas Safe registered LPG engineer to fix boiler and suitably qualified plumber .
At best it will only be joint problems , at worst expect to have to get a new shower mixer and a new boiler.

Thank you.boiler is working fine thank goodness it's just the leaks so let's hope its just the joints. They can live without a shower for now as it also has a bath. Im assuming its all down to the cold weather.

The difference with a static van boiler is that there are two water systems in it, one for the central heating which should have a mix of antifreeze in it, and a domestic hot water system, so two parts to the heat exchanger.
The domestic hot water system MUST be drained down for winter or you end up with the problems you have.

If the heat exchanger is damaged, depending on the make of boiler it can be replaced.

The shower mixer is recommended to be removed in winter and stored in a warm place after draining any water from it.
