We seem to only have enough hot water to get wet when using the van shower, this is with the aldi on 2 kw electricity. Thinking it may be better to have the heater on gas to ensure a longer hot/warm shower. Anyone else had this problem.

how long are you allowing the tank to warm up? i know that mine takes a good 1/2 hour on electric hook up to provide 2 showers, if we go sparingly, turing the shower off when applying shower gel or shampoo etc.

do you have your thermostat set high enough?

from my limited experience though (only been vaning a year) it is much better on gas.

i know these are simple suggestions but the simple ones often get over looked.

Aldi? Not quite sure what that is, but you are correct about using the gas. It can heat the water better than electric, I usually turn gas on 1/2 hour before a shower and leave it on till we are done. If it's not hot weather outside, you might find it better to have a typical caravan shower, where you douse yourself then soap up with the water off. Turn it back on to rince and you should have plenty of hot water to do so. You're not going to be able to have a long, hot relaxing shower in the van but you should be able to get clean with ease. If this fails and your water heater allows it, try using both electricity and gas at the same time. I think the Truma water heater is able to do this, but check before doing so.

Hope this helps.

Hi lol

The Aldi is a supermarket chain so no wonder it won't heat the hot water in our shower !!!!. It's the Alde I was having problems with.
