Signal finder.

did any of you notice the offer in this months PC for a TV signal finder? in the offer section it stated that for readers it was reduced from £35 to £30 if you stated a code, however, later in the mag the same device was advertised by the manufacturer for £30!! these are on offer in Maplins for £15 by another manufacturer. Has anyone used one of these and are they anygood?

Gareth, as far as I can make out from other users experiences, they only tell you what you already know, you either have a picture, or not, and if not, adjust the aerial to find a signal.

Seems a lot of money to just confirm what you already know to be true

good point Damian, i hadn't really looked at like that (doh)! But i was thinking that sometimes i get a good signal from some digi channels and not so good from others. by twisting the aerial i then get good from the others but not from the some! wondered if the finder would indicate where best to point!

I bought one as a result of the advert in the magazine and tried it out last weekend. I was not expecting much as I tried it out at home on my indoor telly. Even though we get 100% picture it only registered ok. I wasn't disappointed, it didn't register anything despite turning the areial agonisingly slowly.

I have an aerial fitted which can be turned. I plug the signal finder in and see how many lights come on, then turn the aerial till the maximum - seems OK to me. Handy when arriving in the dark so you cannot see where other 'vans/houses point theirs.
