Sorry Colin I wasn't meaning to imply that you were anti-children I was using that as a possible source of noise. Having spent too many years in close company of men and machinery I have developed the knack of being able to switch off anywhere, much to my wife's extreme irritation!! I also think (know) that my hearing isn't what it was either.
no problem Clive, I know what you mean about noise though, unfortunatly I am unable to switch off as yourself does, having spent 2 decades in the glass industry and then a further 8 working for a brewery company, switching off would have not been very wise

.
I too have hearing loss through industrial deafness, very annoying at times as it only affects certain pitches like speech and the indicators on the car, but I can still hear a skylark from 2miles away, very strange!

We have just returned from 11 nights on a CS between Bristol and Bath at a cost of £12 per night
The CS has been open less than a year and had all the usual facilities including a toilet and shower.
It is on a farm and the lovely owners even gave us hot cross buns as a gift over Easter and could not have made us feel more welcome.
Considering there were 3 adults and a 14 year old this seems to be good value to me, so much so that we are returning next month

Have booked for 5 nights at Cirencester park CC site at a cost of £72.60, so at less than £15 per night I think that is good value.
I note in the reviews that some were critcal of the electrical and Wifi problems over Easter but with the site at max capacity and most people running heating day and night its not that surprising that breakers were tripping. There are few infrastructures that are designed for max output continously as the cost of installation would be prohibitive. Just look at how the dear old National Grid responds when a big match hits half time and everyone puts the kettle on. What was good about the Cirencester reviews (most of them anyway) is that the Wardens tried to keep everyone informed and their sense of humour intact.

The park should be designed to accommodate it being full continuously and not in the hope it will be half full. After all you are paying PEAK rates!

Wishful thinking I am afraid. If all sites were to have infrastructure designed to accomodate the large variations in peak demand the costs would go even higher. Just the act of putting the kettles on after a tv show can overload supply networks which on a limlted site means breakers get thrown. Even the internet and phone mobile systems have periods where demand rations useage, it is unavoidable in the real world. A chap who lives near by told me that over Easter he left his electric heater on 70 F throughout the day and night even when they were out. Then we wonder why site fees are moving upwards.

At CC Moreton In Marsh. Circa 180 pitches, well laid out and each pitch fairly private. Two good sized toilet blocks, very modern and no shortage of hot water. No queuing. £78 for four nights.
Good site facilities, newspapers, fish ad chip van,5 mins walk to town.

Good value?
I'd say yes!

Except that the pitches are that small that if you have an awning up, you have to park across the front of the caravan. Other downsize is traffic noise otherwise as described above.

i would agree your comments. Similarly we just spent five nights at Cirencester Park CC site for just a smidgen under £75 and it had fish and chips Wednesday and Friday with pizza on a Thursday too! Only one block in use but never had to wait for a shower and only hard standing pitches available. All told a really enjoyable break at only 1 hour drive from home. So if you look around and do have some flexibility there are reasonable prices available. We booke at 36 hours notice too as the weather suddenly came good. Ie just like you see in PC magazine all sun no showers!

Agree you have to park across the front-of the awning and caravan but that didn't cause us any problem even with the size of our outfit. We were lucky and had pitch 9. Some of the others were "cramped" but still within CC spec.
