Hi y'all

My daughter has just started uni at Newcastle. We are looking to go up there to see her at half term (ours not hers). Does anybody know of a suitable site? If not close it has to be easy to get in there.

All suggestions appreciated (apart from 'don't go to Newcastle')

Ian

Hi Ian

The caravan club site at Durham would not be a bad bet. Its open all year and situated just off the A1. You could do the drive to Newcastle in under thity minutes or take the train into the city from Durham.

Ian,

I agree with Richard, CC site at Durham. We store our van here, and the site itself is usual high standard of the club. The wardens are very helpful and friendly. As Richard says, you can get straight onto the A1 from the site, for easy access to Newcastle.

There is another CC site on the coast at Whitley Bay, which I haven't been to since I was a kid, but was nice then. This is probably about the same distance, but with local traffic might take a bit longer to get to Newcastle.

Hope this helps,

Lara.

Hi Ian, Congrats to your daughter on a fine choice of Uni! Being a graduate of there myself I can vouch for the academic standards.. and the social life!! I am also a local and live in Whitley Bay, where as Lara stated there is a CC site. I haven't stayed at the site but can vouch for Whitley Bay! You can drive to Newcastle in 20 mins off peak time along the 'coast road' which joins the coast with the city (longer at peak times! but not so bad if you are driving to the usual student housing areas of Sandyford, Heaton, Jesmond, Gosforth rather than into the city centre) or can use the metro system which will take you to the centre of Newcastle in 30 mins and there are local stations in/around the Newcastle student areas. Any more info needed just shout!

Angel

ps Hi Lara, haven't been on the forum for weeks!! :0)

Thanks everyone.

Will probably book the Durham site, if i'm not too late.

She is staying in Fenkle st, so right in the centre. Probably use the train.

Thanks

Ian
