Site near Villach

Next summer we are intending to make an extended tour in Europe. I am looking for a nice site near Villach on the Autrian/Italian border to break up the long journey from Vienna to lake Garda. Sites with large pitches would be required to accommodate an 8 metre twin axle caravan. We prefer the quieter rural sites to those with every imaginable form of entertainment

The area in and around Villach is particularly popular for camping and my guide lists a whole host of campsites in that area. The quietest ones seem to be on Lake Faak just to the south east of Villach.

I've not been there myself but Marhof Camping in Drobollach at least on paper should suit you well. It's listed as being quiet (only 65 pitches, all between 80 and 120 square metres, so at least the larger ones should be adequate for your 8 metre twin axle) - http://www.marhof.at/platz/pindex.html
