Site to west of london?

We live in Devon, and would like to take our children to London over October half-term; taking our caravan seems to be the sensible (and cheapest) option, but does anyone know of any sites to the west of London? We'd need somewhere with easy access into London by tube or rail.

We're Caravan Club members, but their sites are both to the south, and we don't fancy driving through London.

Thanks muchly

Andrea

The CC site at Denham, Bucks is to the west of london and easy access from A 40 or M40.

There is a station fairly close - Denham_ service into Marlylebone.

Or drive part way into London to West Ruislip or other tube stations round there. The parking is a bit expensive but less than the congestion charge.

There is a CC CL in Chalfont St Giles from where you can get to the station at Gerrards Cross easily. There is a commercial site in the same village. The station at Seer Green is, it seems, now rush hours only, but would be worth finding out about.

Denham is a nice site but next to the airfield, which is fine if you like helicopters after about 07.30

There is also a CC site at Welwyn to the NE of London but this would be out of your way from Deveon. At a pinch, the CC site at Hemel Hempstead might do as this has reasonable rail links into London too.

Hope this helps - have a good break.

We took our kids to CC's Crystal Palace last half term - from S Wales. Was really concerned about having to tow through London - CC site directions advise to follow S Circular route. In the end, we went round the M25 and in through Croydon - dead easy (just head for the =TV mast)! Returned to M4 via S Circular - horrendous journey.

The site is brill for access to central London; buses run from about 100 yards away direct to the centre of town. The kids loved the buses (free for the kids, too). Also a big funfair next to the site, and plenty of good places to eat in the town, about 10 mins walk away.

OK, the trip was a hassle - but well worth it for the week.
