Why are so many of the site wardens grumpy? We have just come back from a c&cc site, talking to others on site the conversation always ended up on how grumpy some of the wardens were.

Didn't even bother to ask for ideas for walks etc when certain ones were on duty.

Why do they choose a job that is customer based, when clearley some have no people skills whatsoever.

That's par for the course with C&CC site wardens Dawn :O(

That is the reason, which I have posted many times, why I only spent 12 months in that club. I did write a letter of complaint but got back the reply I expected which proves that a ship is only as good as its Captain :O)

Dawn

I have been wanting to ask this question for ages but wasn't sure if it was a topic which would be allowed.

We have had the same problem, assistant wardens seem to be lovely but when they become the warden they think they rule the world.

At the beginning of the season i asked if i could remove my van from storage, i was told "i don't have time to worry about storage i have a site to open"

God knows how they cope on a bank holiday when the site is full.

Moan Over .......

Hi dawn

You've just reminded me why I only belong to the CC and only use their sites.

Thank goodness the CC wardens are decent humans! Well I've never met a grumpy one yet.

Cheers

Alan

I have to be honest here. We have only been towing for around 18 months and 90% of the sites we have chosen to stay at have been C&CC sites. I have to say that I have never met a grumpy warden/assistant warden. I know they can be busy at times but but they always seem happy! I just want 1/2 lbs of what ever they smoke!!!

Like LB, we were in the CC&C for only a very short period of time. Wardens were totally inadequate for the job they were tasked to do and they wouldn't take on any responsibilities normally associated with the running of club sites. 'Grumpy' is being mild, many of them were downright rude. We also complained to the CC&C club and received a very inadequate response. We stick with the CC and its sites now and have no problems.

They do say that you can only speak as you find. And our findings over the last couple of months are roughly in line with BaileyBazz's view.

Six of the last nine sites we've stayed at have been C&CC:

Troutbeck,Luss,Oban,Inverewe,Rosemarkie and Scone.

The first five all had really nice, helpful, sociable wardens and staff. Scone, however fell on the other side of the fence.

Still, five out ot six aint bad.

Been to various CC&C sites throughout the country and over a number of years and have only come across one assistant Hitler. He now is and has been Manager of a well known CC&C site. After a very heated debate (well argument) on a northern site holiday I wrote a detailed complaint to CC&C HQ and still waiting for a reply. Other than this one complaint I have to say that in general all the others have been OK

In twenty-two years of C&CC club membership, I have only come across two wardens/site managers who I felt were less than helpful. That doesn't seem a bad proportion to me, but of course, if you have the misfortune to encounter your first old misery early on in your period of membership, you will quickly form the opinion that that is typical. I wouldn't for a minute suggest that there are not some individuals who are not ideally suited for the job, but they are no more likely to be found on C&CC sites than they are on CC sites or indeed within the commercial sector. It is a pity that we cannot always be greeted by cheerful, helpful individuals, wherever we go, but sadly, this is the real world, inhabited by human beings with human failings.

in response to your comment i worked on a site in the new forest for 11 years i can assure you it is not about having your unit on site for a season and getting a wage you need to see the other side people/campers are not all sweet and made of milk and honey
