Hi can anybody recomend any touring sites close to Cambridge as we would like to visit in October 08. When we say close we are ok with a bus ride away, any help would be great as we have never visited this area before.

The CC site at Cherry Hinton is just outside the city, and also the C&CC site at Great Shelford is a mile from the city centre. Both have bus stops outside the entrance to the site. :O)

We did not like Cherry Hinton at all, sorry. Higgledy Piggledy extremely crowded pitches, undulating pitches, old fashioned and dated toilets but clean nevertheless. Having said that it seems always to be booked up!

We always stay at Highfield when we go to Cambridge, a Best of British site, it is absolutely lovely. 2 mins ride from a park and ride, 4 mins from a lovely little cluster of specialist shops - can't remember the name - but an old fashioned butcher, toy shop, gift shop, wine cellar, little cafe to have afternoon tea - beautiful.

The site is split into three sections, tents separate and childrens section separate with play area etc., we like to pitch on the first field, I think its pitch 27 but can't be sure. All pitches are relatively roomy and toilets are very clean, dog walks, ride into Cambridge about 7 mins.

Fish and chip van comes on a saturday, bread and papers available from reception each morning, small shop.

Val.
