Hi

Thinking about taking the kids to see the sights etc in London next year. Any advice/ comments re sites in/ around London. We are quite happy to drive if neccesary to a tube station/ local station. Any sites near Windsor for example.

Thanks in advance

Annette

Denham C.C. site is very handy for trains into London and is about the same distance from Windsor as Henley though Henley has more to see and do in the town. Don't know what the train service from Henley is like though.

There aren't any sites in Windsor that i know of but there is one quite close by called "Amerden Caravan & Camping Site" that is in Dorney between Slough and Maidenhead. From here you can get a direct train to London from either Slough or Maidenhead station both are a shortest drive away.

if you are members of Caravan Club, there are two sites actually in London...Crystal Palace is one which I have been to, and you can bus it into capital from the entrance.

Hi Annette,

We stayed at the Caravan Club site in Denham (Wyatts Covert), in July, specifically to "do" London and Windsor.

It is ideally situated for both - Windsor is about half an hours drive away and London is about half an hour by train, the station being within walking distance from the site (if you're quite energetic!)

There are a couple of caravan club sites actually within London but, when we looked at them, we found that it would take just as long to get into the centre of London as it would from Denham and that the public transport wasn't necessarily as close to the site.

Incidentally, we spent 3 days in London having bought a 3-day off-peak travel card for about

Hi Annette

We stayed at the CC site , Amberley Fields Gatwick this year. You can getthe Gatwick Express into London, 30 mins. It's next to the main Gatwick runway .You can walk to the end of teh runway and se the planes almost at head level. Don't take your car, the police will move you on.

Cheers

Alan
