I checked it out, it seems as if you are in the middle of an industrial park. It has to be the worse C.C. site I have seen. Saying that its close to the amusements for kids and you only have to walk over the sea defence wall and you are on the beach. I say beach loosely because when we were kids the beach had a lot of clay in it, not much sand. The site is actually in Ingoldmells, just outside of Skeggy.

Hi Jo-anne

I don't agree with Lord B The sands in Skeg and Ingoldmells are excellent, Iv'e never seen any clay!!

The pitches are a mix of grass and hardstanding, nice pitches wide but the hard standings back up to each other. We went last June, a good shop nearby and the site is very well kept.

hello jo-anne. Agree with Jim. We went with our daughter and her three. Ideal for kids. Almost on the beach. Site has family bathroom. Hard standing pitches have flint covering...deadly for awning mudwall/groundsheets.Hardstanding pitches have paths between...people passing all the time.Would pay extra and have "super" pitch,if we went again.Good minimarket nearby.

Jim I did say when I was a kid it had clay, which was a long time ago, and I did say it was close to the beach. If I recall rightly when the sea goes out, which is a long way, the clay is then exposed. Its all down to personal choice though, I prefer greenery and peace and quiet which you wont get on that site. Wherever you look it is a sea of caravans and statics , literally thousands of them, and views of the amusement parks rides. Butlitz is close by too, they were building that when my parents hired a caravan at Ingoldmells. Each to their own, ok for kids as I said before but not if you want views and solitude instead of noise and looking at a big commercial building/offices that seems to be part of the site.

Never been there myself but a friend stayed a couple of years ago. They were booked in for 2 weeks and left after 5 nights! Apparently, the site has a tendency to be noisy and is OK if you are looking for amusement arcades and fish'n'chip shops!!!

I wonder if people might still be able to catch crabs?

heheheh! Lisa, I remember that well, going to The Point at Ingoldmells. We tied a stone to some string then bought a bag of shrimps for bait. We even caught 2 eels. A stream used to run into the sea by The Point.

Jo-Anne

been over to skegness when we stayed at Clumber Park last March.

Swore I would never go again. Like the Blackpool of the East coast, tacky and full of arcades, bingo etc. Best part of the visit was Gibralter Point, which is a nature reserve and you can watch the, Birds and the RAF bombing target ships out in the Wash.

Tacky, Tacky, Tacky, took some rock back for the lads at work!!!!

if tou want a bucket and spade holiday with kids,go for it.the site is up to club standards it has family shower rooms, yes it can be busy but it is not a big siteso it is not bad.we spend most of the summer in the scottish highlands,so we enjoy the peace and beauty of such places, but we enjoy taking the grandchildren to the site at skeggy for a week.yesskegness is as some would say"tacky"but tacky can be fun and there is plenty of things to do and places in the vicinityto see to make for an enjoyable holiday

We haven't stopped on the CC Skegness site, we stop at Hawthorn Farm Cc site which is not far from Mablethorpe, which is lovely. Play area for the kids, well kept site , quiet and wardens are nice and helpful, our youngest son has special needs. It is not as close to the beach as Skegness, its a short drive away. The beach at Mablethorpe is lovely, miles of sand, kids love it. We have driven past the cc Skegness site, to Skegness, each time the road has had heavy traffic, almost a solid traffic jam at times. Lots to do in Skegness.

Skegness itself is ok but where the Club site is its in Ingoldmells and Bri describes Ingoldmells correctly - tacky.

We also looked at the Hawthorn site and that looked a quiet place without being surrounded by a sea of statics.

l can also recommend hawthorn farm cc site. sutton on sea is very nice one small street with a few shops and a really nice outdoor paddling pool if you have kids.

l would avoid ingoldmells it is far to noisy and crowded for my liking.

We stayed at Hawthorn Farm for our maiden trip. Would definately recommend it. Nice and quiet, well kept, friendly wardens.

There is a Spar shop (I think it's Spar) a short drive away and it sells a good range of food etc. They even do hot pasties and other hot food which is good.

As someone said above, the beach at Mablethorpe is lovely.

Personally, I'd steer clear of Skeggie very tacky indeed and it now seems to host hen/stag parties too.
