Dirty rotten scoundrels.
Due to a massive premium increase and the refusal to negotiate, a take it or leave it attitude, I decided not to renew with the Norwich boys.
AA Insurance underwritten by Covea will cover me for next 12 months same cover but cheaper than last year.

This morning my old insurers have renewed and taken £460 from my bank 😡😡
Apparently you can’t talk to them because everything is on line AI🙀

It’s going to be a long day

Is the £460 the increased premium from Aviva - I wish I could get mine down that low!

Good luck with that one just before Christmas.

15 mins of chat bots and merry go round pre recorded calls got through to an out of country call centre.
Seems their system has a glitch. 🙀.

Cancelled renewals have inadvertently been renewed ,and premium collected from customers accounts without permission.
Let’s hope no sub postmasters were injured in this process😉So much for computers being error free!

Repayment I am told will take upto five days to reach my account. Strange they can grab it so fast yet so slow to put it back🤬

The lesson here is to carefully consider choosing automatic renewal which I had done just in case the renewal papers didn’t reach me and I ended up inadvertently uninsured..

Let me ruin your day😎
Aviva 23/24. £393
Aviva. 24/25. £ 454 ( non negotiable!)
Covea via AA. £334

Fully comp all, add ons and protected NCD. That’s the South Cotswolds for you😉
How many miles/year? That seems to be significant in my case although age is now starting to play a big part.

I do shop around, every year - 10,000 miles, late '70s, full NCD, no fault accidents, not garaged, just myself and daughter-in-law to drive £735 - so maybe down to mileage, age and location - although it didn't help that my no fault accident was recorded as a fault on the CUE database, but now corrected.

I have a similar issue on my CC for about £500 except mine is in a "pending" mode. The funds have not been removed from the CC account, but have been "locked". The seller cannot do anything as it was an order that never happened.

I had ordered some goods, paid using a CC through Paypal, however as the goods were not in stock the payment was declined so supplier does not have a record of any transaction to be able to cancel the "pending" amount. Paypal reflect the amount and it shows in my account, but cannot do anything about it unless seller cancels and order that does not exist. Paypal stated it would drop off after a few days, but 10 days later it is still there!

Whilst I'm sure you have a good financial standing with a substantial credit limit, that situation could hurt someone with a very low credit limit by blocking their access to the account until the pending transaction is removed.

Have you contacted the credit card company yourself - 10 days is a long time for a pending transaction to remain.

Similar story on LV/Flow for us. £167 for 2023, went to £262 for 2024. They asked £432 for 2025 - no thanks. Off to Aviva for £203.

21/22 Tesco £282
22/23 Tesco. £320
23/24 Tesco quoted £460

See #6 for the latest

It just goes to show a number of Insurers have no respect for loyalty.
Grab you cheap and paste you next renewal!

I suggest it is essential to carefully shop around each year.

At this point I have not contacted them as hate dealing with the Online Chatbot that takes you around in circles and makes it difficult to speak to a rep plus stressing you out. I can wait until after the Christmas holiday and the I will phone in. Just annoying at present, but creating any issues.

I absolutely detest chatbots.

They bring nothing to the table. Interrupt the train of thought and never achieve an acceptable result.

Plus if you are older and have arthritis typing hurts , talking is easy and more likely give a successful result.

I just tend to confuse the chat line which generally then leads my to a real person. I don’t have arthritis but my right arm is affected by “essential tremor”. Bit embarrassing last week when buying the new car as the salesman’s laptop touch pad was so sensitive I couldn’t fill in details of bank account. Cursor going all over the place. In the end my wife did the job. But fortunately I can still hold a pint. The weight dampens the arm movements and as the level in the glass goes down a bit more movement refreshes the head. 👍
