For the past 12 months I have been using "double screened twin feed digital cable" in my caravan. This double/twin cable does away with the need to have two seperate cables from your dish to the van, much tidier and less chance of falling "AoverT" over yards of cable.I bought it from Melksham Satellites Ltd who have provided a top class service with everything you need for receiving satellite signals. The link below will take you there for a look-see. Best of luck JTS.

Hi JTS

I got my kit from Melksham Satellites three years ago. Now we have Sky+ I have been thinking about upgrading the LNB and using two sat cables. A nuisance so that has put me off.

Are you using a x2 or x4 LNB with the new "twin " cable? I guess I will have to add a new outlet socket inside the van to allow the twin cable to enter the two separate sockets on the sat box. Entry to the van outside has a double entry socket .

I don't quite understand how this new twin cable works?

Can you help please??

Cheers

Hi Alan.

Its quite simple realy the twin cable is just like two single cables cojoined side by side and you have two conectors at each end. If you go to the link I gave you will see an illustration of the cable. The only thing is you have to use a smaller diameter connecter because each half of the twin cable is smaller than the standard sat cable. These connectors are available with the cable from Melksham. I have changed to 4xLNB because they were cheap on Ebay, less than

Thanks Jts

I get the picture now!

I shall do this mod as it now seems more easy than I originally thought.

I had a dealer external sat point fitted so now we can just plug in. However I will have to run the new twin cable from the external point to the a new internal socket. No problem.

Again many thanks for that tip. You learn something every day.

Cheers

Reading this has made me think that I might try taking our Sky+ box and card away with us at Easter.

We already use a normal "free" Sky system so I am happy with setting it up etc, but we use a Globesat dish (fantastic) which appears only to have 1 LNB.

My question is;

Can I use Sky+ on this with only 1 connection to the LNB. I know it would mean thatI coudn't record 2 programs at the same time, but would I be able to get all channel and use the box to view previously recorded programmes?

All help gratefully recieved.

Hi Sean,

In a nutshell , yes. As you realise ,you will not be able to watch one programme whilst another is being recorded, otherwise it's the same as at home.

I'm going to do JTS mod soon.

Don't forget with your Sky + box you need to line up with the Astra 2 satellite giving you a network id of 0002 and transport stream of 07d4.

See David Sullivans site www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk

A fantastic informative site.

Good luck.

Cheers

You should be able to view the stuff you recorded before you left home but you will not be able record with a single LNB. Make sure you connect your dish to the correct terminal on your box as I guess you won't get anything. Its worthwhile changing your LNB and running the extra cable.Good luck JTS.
