Good Morning all

Wondered if someone could give me a little advice? My son and daughter in law recently purchased 2003 Lunar Zenith (6 birth), but unfortunately there is a hole in the skylight, luckily not anywhere that lets weather in but on the lip that sits on the roof of the van. The previous owner advised that it was like that when they purchased it and did not cause a problem, however we wanted to get it sorted before bad weather sets in.

We contacted a local caravan repairer who duly gave price for the job and supply of the new roof light. Unfortunately the first item delivered to him was damaged and he sent for a replacement... However he is now advising that the whole unit had to be replaced at additional charge including all the mastic. My question really is can you confirm if this is correct or can you just replace the perspex window on its own and everything else is in good working order....

Many thanks in advance for help given

To be honest Di without actually seeing the skylight it would be hard to say.

Any reasonably competent diy'er could replace a caravan rooflight, I exchanged the one over the kitchen in a Lunar Clubman that I once owned with a mini Heki rooflight and the entire job including the removal of the old rooflight, cleaning off the old mastic and replacing with new mastic only took a couple of hours.

Rooflights, mini Heki's etc can be purchased from most caravan accessory stores including Towsure so a good way to check the prices is to look online.
