Hi Barking

You can record with a single lead in as I've just checked

If you are recording and try to watch another channel you get the no sat signal is being received message but you could record something to watch later and you can pause
Colin I was a little surprised myself as I remembered it differently

It was the Pace box I tried today but the Amstrad could have been different when I tried it a while ago

I fully understand the workings at the receiver end, it is the satelite end that I have a problem with.

If I wish to have one feed into the receiver, which will allow me to either view or record one channel or record whilst watching a previously recorded programme, what typ of LNB needs to be fitted to the dish - single, twin or quad?

Many Thanks

Barking

Hi

I think I have a twin LNB, there are two cables coming from the satellite dish.

These lead into the two inputs on my PACE SKY+ receiver and via SCART to TV.

The TV arial comes in via a DVD recorder and via SCART to the second of the TV SCART sockets.

Sky receiver is linked to DVD recorder on a SCART to SCART conection.

It is only the Sat dish LNB end I am concerned about as I have no knowledge of the LNB configureration i.e. two cables exiting the LNB would on the surface appear to be a twin LNB, but is that the case?

Hi Barking,

If you have two cables coming out of the lnb and going into your ski+ digibox then you are set up for sky+. But you need to subscribe to sky+ to be able to record using the built in hard drive in your digibox.

The answer to your question about your lnb is yes it sound like you have twin lnb. If the cables were going to different rooms in your house then it would be called a multiroom setup.

Hope this helps

Hi and thanks to all.

i have a sky+ account and card and it all works very well at home it was for the van that I was concerned.

I ordered a new van at the NEC to be fitted with a sat dish. the sat dish had only a single lnb.

I now think I know that once I plug in the box I will have the following functionallity:

Watch one sky channel

Record one Sky Channel

Wath a pre-recorded programme and record one sky channel.

Thanks again to all contributers.

Why not just ask whoever is fitting the satellite dish to fit a twin LNB then you will have full use of your sky+ system, there must ba all of

I have ordered the Maxview Crankup and asked at the Maxview stand at the NEC about twin LNB and was told it was not available in a twin. I assumed from that, that it was not possible to fit one that would lead straight through into the caravan.

Perhaps a wrong assumption, I will request dealer retro-fits a twin lnb.

Many thanks all!
