Is anyone familiar with the A890,A896and A832 - basically from Skye to Poolewe via Gairloch? Is it possible to drag a T/A this way or do we have go via Inverness and swing round to it on the A835?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Dave you'll be fine for travelling to Poolewe. You will leave the island and head for Loch Carron. From there to Achnasheen and then up to Gairloch. The road from Achnasheen has recently been upgraded.

I live on Skye and pull a sterling europa. The road at Loch Carron is single track at times but well worth it for the view. We also run a campsite at Staffin North Skye

Hi Ally. Thanks for the information,it's most welcome. In fact, thinking about our itinerary,we may do the journey the other way round - north to south. That would put us on Skye the second week in May.Two questions Ally; what's the name of your campsite and do you take twin axles (26ft). The third of my two questions (an after thought)is what are the midges like on Skye in May.

Many thanks,

Dave.

staffin campsite...

thats a big caravan but lorries run on that road via LochCarron but you'll be fine. There are 5 sites on Skye and a nice site at Reraig on the approach to Skye. Midges are a bit of a myth at the end of the day we live here all the time..Enjoy your tour

Hi Dave we are actually at Staffin itself Staffin Campsite. The midges are a bit of a myth after all we stay there all the time. I think some people over react a bit, we still stay in a beautiful part of Scotland

Enjoy yer hols
