Hi we are taking the grandparents away with us and need to get a sleeping annexe for the awning. We have an Inaca Sands and I phoned Barrons and the annexe to go on the side panel is nearly £200 plus another £60 for the inner tent. They do have an inner tent that you just hang at one end of the awning for about £40. As we may not be using this alot am I better with the cheaper option. We are not worried about losing the awning space as it is a full awning on a 25ft van. Also the site want to charge another £4 per night just for having the annexe, on top of the awning charge. Talk about fees going up this is Warcombe Farm in North Devon, nearly £400 for the bank hol week at the end of May! still going though cause it is lovely. Denise

I hope the Grandparents don't bring a car, a dog, go fishing, breath or anything else chargeable. Even blowing a hurricane and lashing down you'll still be charged at Warcombe if your not off the pitch on time even if the site is empty.

Nice place though, they've lost my custom.

Try to have a good look at the material of the hook up type awning bedrooms. We bought one but it was so thin you could see straight through the material. This means that in summer it very light from 4:30 am, and there was effectively no privicy.

Didn't even use ours.

They are also tricky to put up as the hooks do not match with awning frame so you need to have a good supply of elastic chord to fix it with. You may find the box says you need 'extra fittings'.

We now use either the bedroom from our old frame tent which is much more substantial, same probs fixing it up though. Or

we put up a small free standing lightweight hiking tent (wippy poles)inside the awning, this way you can use the fly sheet which maintains privicy and keeps out the light.

Sleep tight - Rob

Try looking at rallies - very rarely any extra charges for annexes, pup tents, dogs, cars, extra people etc and you can be on exactly the same type of pitch at the same place for less money.

Great idea about the hiking tent in the awning. We've got one of them throw up jobs. Would really suit us as it is only very rarely are there too many of us to sleep in the van. Cheers Rob, I'll use that idea.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. Maybe we should invest in the proper annexe. I've booked and paid now for with out the annexe, maybe I'll forget to tell them. You even have to pay in full for a booking for the end of may! Lets just hope we have a nice week, but I do think they have outpriced themselves, they are more expensive than the 5 star parks and it isn't a site with bar/club/entertainment all it has is a fishing lake and a play area. We're with Thorpedo. I used to use this system with an old ridge tent back in the eighties when I went away with my parents as it gave me a bit more privacy and personal space. As the tent had an inner and outer tent it made it a bit warmer than just an awning inner tent too.
