small crack in exterior of van - help required please...

Hello

When cleaning van other day noticed a very small crack in the exterior of the van under the window, the crack has not gone right through and as far as I can see there is no sign of further damage. I would like to get this crack filled asap to ensure water tight and read that you could use Creaping Crack Cure - would this be any good - has anyone tried this before - or any other suggestions.. The van is an older model 1993.

Thanks for your help

Trist,

The type of material dictates the type of repair.

I'm hoping that this is a plastic panel, and most likely a GRP panel, then this will be a simple stress crack and can be repaired with a kit from Halfords.

If it's in an aluminium panel, then you have a real problem - these don't crack unless the underlying structure has failed - but let's not go there until you've identified the material.

Creeping Crack Cure - used on boats for years - and it's meant to seal a window to a window rubber. It most definitely is not a structural compound, and won't do a good job on a stress crack.
