Arrived last Tuesday. Torrential rain and high winds especially at night to keep us awake!
One more week to go. I hope it improves.
This is as bad as the Hebrides three years ago.

Please will someone send me a tap to turn it off!!!!!

not sure the wind and rain is unique to snowdonia. Perhaps your thread title should read "Leave the house..don't bother" BTW not heard from Sir kev since his "enough is enough" thread. Has the mantle of "weather watcher" now fallen onto your kingly shoulders? Is sir kev still enmired in the soggy ground of Stowford?

Hi Lady Mel, lifes been trowing us a couple of challenges the last week or so, got back from Stowford and Dad was in hospital with blood clot, little grandson had to go in to have bi-opsy's which he really didnt want to go to "sleep" ,(daughter then fainted in the hospital) then Lady Gaga had to go through the memories of the day she lost her mum.
But all getting back on track now, we celebrated sons 28th birthday at the weekend.
Thanks for asking after me at least one person missed me

I feel your pain DD

Just about every time we even begin to think about hooking the caravan on to the truck the heavens open.
There's an old Welsh saying, if the top of Snowdon is barely visible through the mist and cloud it's going to rain.
If the top of Snowdon is invisible it's raining

Never mind, if you get wet on the outside make sure that you get wet on the inside as well, here's my kind of tap

Sound advice :) Get yourself into the Bryn Tyrch near Capel Curig - you can sit there and drink beer while looking at the mountains - I always found mountains looked their best when viewed over the top of a pint glass. Or the Ty Gwyn in Betws-y-Coed do a mean lamb shank.

I know the feeling, here we are in July , only been away twice , first week in April , staying at Ferry Meadows it rained every day, loads of pitched flooded, lots of cancellations.May apart for three days of sun remainder daily heavy showers here in Essex, stayed at home .
June frustration setting in , desperatiion we booked 14 nights in Hythe (kent) the day we left heavy rain all the way down to Queen Elizabeth Bridge, once into Kent no rain at first then it followed us down to the camp site.
!st day it rained all day, 2nd day sunshine that night heavy thunderstorm, after that we had strong winds and sunshine , infact looking back we only had three days of rain leaving us with a bonus of 11 days sunshine. Very very lucky as the daily weather forcast was rain for every day.
Problem with the car in for check up Engine management warning light came on when I was climbiing steep hill towing the van,Providing the fault is corrected , we will, weather providing heading south again to Surrey this month.

Thanks my fellow Woosies The last tap on the head I had was for water on the knee!
We bought some water proof overtrousers each before we came away. A very wise move. They work. There's a lovely long walk around the site. Totally flooded but the springers managed to wade /swim through. Glad I had my wellies.

A mile up the road at Waunfawr is a pretty decent pub, The Snowdonia Parc. The landlady Carmen brews her own beerin a micro brewery. There is a choice of eight brews today. Sunday she had a beer festival with live music and would you believe live belly dancing!! mmmmm. gets slapped by Lady Villa.
Carmen has just won the CAMRA award for the best brew in this part of North Wales The presentation and celebration is tomorrow night. I'm working on a late pass from Lady Villa. t least it is undercover and we are dry.

The Wyoming has sprung two leaks, a front window and the wet locker box . The cookers spark ignition has also packed up.
One more week to go , I do hope I can enjoy an open air BBQ.

Not much consolation DD but it's no different in Cumbria. On our second week now and rain every day. Today has been the best, we actually sat outside this afternoon. According to the forecast the rest of the week is rain and then we move on to Lower Wensleydale for a week which will no doubt be rain
smiley-yell.gif

If we hadn't booked into a site in Notts, after Lower Wensleydale, to incorporate a visit to my mother during our gallavanting we would have knocked it on the head and gone home.
Last July in Snowdonia we left after 9 days because of the incessant rain every single day and the following month, August, we did likewise when in Cumbria, 9 days of rain so left early. Having the dogs and having to take them out makes it worse but the dogs come first. We are seriously talking about giving up caravanning because it's now getting depressing

We lived there for six years and I swear it rained every day. I'd give up all hopes on the BBQ... :)

We've been home for a week now, and it hasn't stopped raining., so it doesn't matter where you are, or what you're in, it's still raining. From reports, its doing it in Europe, too .

I know the constant rain is a pain in the rear, but think positive.
When you go away, it's another window to look out of, when your getting wet inside!

LB,
Even in my wettest boots I'll never think about chucking in the caravan . The dogs love it I love it , and SWMBO loves it. However all this wet wet wet is giving us cabin fever.

Kopite my knight, Tell Tammy we've sinned big time. LOL.

At least the beer at the Snowdonia Parc Tavern is true CAMRA. At £2.70 a pint I can just about afford it. He with the light pole and hollow legs would approve!!!

Naah, this country is built on a dedication to moaning about the rain and weather in general, then going and doing our own thing anyway. :) We decided that as this weekend is looking wet, we may as well be sitting inside reading and relaxing looking at it through the caravan window than the house window so will toddle off somewhere. Not decided where yet, but somewhere quick and local. :)

Just wait, the only dry two hours for the whole month of July are bound to coincide with the British Grand Prix on Sunday, when a wet race would liven things up nicely :(

Change of plan.
After much consideration we've changed our mind. Due to the weekend forecast we didn't fancy taking the awning down in the rain or driving on the M6 if there's a deluge so now staying here for our third week. Despite the rain a lot of it is annoying showers and we love this site and are probably on the best pitch so it didn't take much thinking about to stay.

Well it just gets better here.
Today we are expected to receive the entire rainfall for the whole of July. We are on an Amber weather alert
