It is great to see that at least one member of the Labour government has an ounce of sense - a female spokesperson said today that if you are in social housing then you must find work. If you are not working you are not entitled to social housing.

I never thought I'd ever say this in public but since we have occupants in 'affordable housing' localed dangerously close to our property, (across the canal for a starter), the crime stats have gone up.

The kids hang round in gangs trying to intimidate people, particularly the older people, etc, etc, you know what I mean.

There's a particularly nasty old foul mouthed **** which has produced one daughter now aged nearly 16. The old **** actually encourages the daughter to fight and steal, it never gets up to ensure the daughter attends school on a regular basis etc, etc.

Having had the misfortune to meet this old **** one night when it was drunk and abusive, it just reinforces my opinion that people should pass an intelligence test before they are allowed to get in whelp.

If I had a dog or ***** with serious behavioural or temperament issues, it would be castrated or speyed to ensure that wouldn't be passed down through the blood lines. Although, as I have quoted in the past, we can't compare canine to human behaviour and vice versa, shame really.

Pity that can't be employed in these cases.

The old **** in question is known to all the agencies by the way. I was told 'we have tried to engage the mother'.

My nephew has never worked in his life - is 33 years of age and has served time for drug misuse. He has fathered two children by two different women and then left them to fend for their selves. He stays in bed until after 2:00pm and then goes up the road to meet his "friends" and smokes more drugs. He has not had any social for three weeks and is tamping - he is dossing in his grandmother's house thereby not paying council tax, electricity, gas, phone or even buying his own food. I told him twice that he was a lazy b*****d and that he should be working and his reply was that I was threatening him. He has applied for a council house on the grounds that he wants to be with his partner to be able to raise his children - lying b*****d - all he wants is somewhere where he and his mates can take drugs in peace. If it was not for the fact that it would upset my mother in law I would shop him with a clear head.

As you might recall, my daughter just over 12 months ago, was living in our bungalow with her family while the house she was buying was being built.

The houses were being built by a few well known house builders. This scheme was mixed, home owners and affordable housing (part rent/part buy.

They have now sold up and moved again, their lives were made a nightmare. During the summer they couldn't sleep with their windows open because of the cussing and noise. The kids were only about 14 but hung around until the small hours smoking and drinking. As they drifted off the young un's came out, kids roaming the streets as young as 3 at 7.30am. They were that desperate to get out they found a house to rent and paid the mortgage on the property until it was sold. They love this rented property so much, which is 5 minutes walk from us, they are seriously thinking of staying there. They now wish they had originally stayed in the first house they were buying, four houses back :O(

I told them, buying your own home isn't the be all end all, the main thing is to be happy and this seems to be the case where they are now. Not only that, they are close if they need us to help with anything and we get to see the grandchildren more often.

Nah, go for it Colin!

I`ve shopped aneighbour and a relative who were claiming benefits they weren`t entitled to, and I`d it again, no problem.

I work for what i`ve got, and when I WAS out of work (19 years ago) I couldn`t get a brass farthing and came within 2 days of losing my house, so sod `em all, I say.

Where would you put those that got evicted? Poor house, and if they want feeding let them work for it.

I`d go one step further, if you get sent down you should have to pay for your prison keep. If they don`t have the money, sell their assets (car, tv, house or whatever)if they don`t have assets they stay in until they work off their debt.

I`m still working on the rest of my manifesto.

What gets me is why do they keep having children when they just won't look after them? I appreciate, unwanted pregnancies do happen but some of these women have got loads of different kids all by different fathers.

I even know of someone who was in hospital having a baby and a few beds away from her, was her boyfriends other girlfriend having his baby too. They all thought it was extremely funny. Both 'girls' got freshly decorated and furnished houses to live in. Not a mortgage in sight.

Lisa

Sorry to hear about what happened to your daughter LB but glad to hear they're settled now.

I'm not sure if you are a troll or not, but working on the assumption that you are not - manners, self respect, dignity cost no money. Bringing up your children to be civilized decent people who respect others and their property takes time and effort. Not many people are prepared to do that these days.

I think the MP's ideas need further scrutiny.

As Good as the sentiment in her statement is I think she is barking mad.

Many of those she talks of have a vote and I doubt that her party will risk losing those votes.

Our Government also lets any waif or stray in to our country and gives them shelter and benefits to use and send home along with fixing theirs and their un-entitled visiting relatives health problems.

If you think that the ladies words are any more than useless "political soundbites" you will be very disappointed.

Jason - obviously she was speaking off her own back as if this was Labour policy they would lose a hell of a lot of votes and probably the next election as their votes are generally from these down and outs - often thought of as dregs of society as Tory policy would cost them a hell of a lot as they would not be receiving all the state handouts.

My daughter has been on the council list for 6 years she had a 2 bed house (private rented) daughter and son (girl now 9 son 3)they share a room. She keeps moving down the list, and pays a wacking rent. she works part time, gets her taxes, and struggles to make ends meet. they have no holidays, nights out etc.

Social/housing association housing is a big joke and con here, (warwickshire) there are no council houses at all, but the council still run the lists, and make the decisions, why, it's not their job and we pay for it!!!! Can't housing associations do there own work??

She had a serious dispute with the landlord and is leaving and going to share a 2 bed flat, but he has been trying to find out where she is going, even was at the school her daughter goes to this morning.

she could come to our house but that doesn't help her situ.

I try not to judge or be a snob but I would never buy where are council/social/housing association/affordable/part share housing.

she has had no chance as the housing keeps going to immigrants and similar.

Get your daughter to learn to speak one of the following languages smiley ..... Polish/Romanian/Urdu/Bulgarian/Arabic/Pashto/Dari/Latvian/ Estonian/Lithuanian/Portuguese/Tigre/Nubian/Persian/Kurdish/Bengali/Filipino/Mandarin

.....then go to the council saying that she's just arrived on a banana boat :O). She will be housed with furnishings and a well stocked pantry. She will be overwhelmed by Social Workers looking after her welfare and a nice lawyer to see that her Human Rights aren't compromised.

This isnt aimed at anybody in particular but I need to put my point across.

Not all people who live in council houses are scum of the earth, that dont work, swear alot and take drugs.

I live in a council house now owned buy whitefriars housing. I waited 9 and a half years to get a house from them. Craig and myself were working and privatly renting but we couldn't afford a morgage so applied to the council. We have now been here for 3 years and its a lovely area. I had been on the waiting list for 7 years when we had lucas in march 02. He was 16 weeks early and weighed 14 oz and was 7 inches long. He is the smallest surviving baby boy that has survived in the united kingdom for 66 years. He was very poorly and was in intensive care and on a ventilator for weeks. He came out of hospital when he was 5 months old on oxygen and a feeding tube. When he came out of hospital my maternity leave was ending so I had no choice but to give my job up of 13 years and become his full time carer to help him and nurse and care for him. In May 2002 we found out our other son Reece who is now almost 14 was diagnosed with the wrong epilepsy and prescribed the wrong drugs for 3 years. This overdosed him for three years and he was like a zombie. This doctor did it to 600 children. Reece is now in a special needs school because of this doctor and he has a schooling age of a 7-8 year old.

When we was renting before we moved to our council house we lived in one of the best areas in our city and in the most expensive road. But It was high crime rate and full of gangs and drunk kids. If given the choice to move back I wouldnt no way. Where I live now in my council house I have a murder squad detective next door and most of my neighbours are great. Its not a full council estate. There is three streets and most of the council houses are bought and there are private houses aswell so a nice mixture. The kids go in when its dark and none of them swear etc etc.In the summer the kids (mine and the neighbours) have 3 gardens to play in ours, the coppers and his neighbour. Theres trampolines in two of the gardens and one of the neighbours has a bouncy castle business so in the summer theres at least one bouncy castle up.

I begged the council for two years for a house. I had letters off GP'S, consultants, education departments supporting my application for emergency housing to be closer to my family for support and help with care. They eventually housed us when Lucas was 2. Weeks after I moved in a polish family moved in 5 doors down. A very nice family but how many local people were on the list before them.

I do agree with some points made like the imigrants and some of the council estates here probebly do have scummy people that swear and have bad kids and are little shites.

If I hadnt had a premmie baby I would still have my job and I would have been there for 19 years now. If the goverment extended maternity leave for mums who have premmies then I would have gone back to work.

Im now a full time mum both my boys have special needs and Im at college doing hairdressing. I have passed my level one NVQ and im on my level 2 NVQ. I have another year and a half before I qualify and then I will start my own buisness and go back to college to do my level 3.

Please dont assume that all people who live in council houses are scum, druggies whos kids are shite bags with bad mouths and all council tennants are bad parents.

I might be crap speller and my grammer is not great but I know and I can brag that We are fantastic parents and we have been through hell and back with the kids and there problems, operations etc etc. I might be a council tennant but I wouldn't wish what we have been through the last 6 years on anybody else.

Jo-Anne
