Poor design TV aerial system

No terrestrial TV last two weeks away😥

Did a structured continuity test from the aerial via the amplifier back to the cable TV end. Dead between the amplifier and TV🤬.The cable disappears into a hole in the ceiling and comes out of another hole 6 feet away. Solution. Install a new cable. Impossible to pull the old one out.
After removing two panels and the microwave, eureka. Found the problem . A cable joiner behind the microwave had come apart! Must be all the years of vibration. A quick clean up and retighten, all working again.

Why on earth Bailey didn’t use a single section is beyond me. How would you know the join was behind the micro wave. Very poor design again 🙉IMG_1507.jpegIMG_1509.jpegIMG_1506.jpegIMG_1508.jpeg

There really is something wrong the way caravans are still designed to be failures.

The Prof mentioned this point yesterday.

Every time we go away something breaks , I honestly can’t remember when we had a breakdown free holiday. Last week the grill started playing up. More dirt / rust in the gas pipes.

A tap with my mini hammer fixed it. But I expect by the end of the season I will have to remove and strip down and clean the grill for the fourth time in 17 years🙀.

I often think people who design things should be made to use them and maintain them. I used to work in facilities management and had hundreds of arguments (debates) with architects during fit outs who would propose something that looked lovely but was virtually impossible to clean or maintain. Generally they stared into space as if I was talking a foreign language.

Didn't the Jag XJ have a seal between the gearbox and engine costing less than £1, but thousands to remove the engine to access the seal? That is very poor design with no forward thinking. I think the Discovery had a similar issue?

Some cars particularly with small engines require the engine to be removed to change the cambelt. Wet cam belts do go longer than dry cambelts but as Stellantis have revealed some of their 1.0 and 1.2 Puretech engines haven’t given the service required. Hence the recent compensation scheme going back to 2012 on some cars.

Yes I can confirm the Discovery did,bought it new and had to replace when a few months out of warranty. The worst new vehicle I ever bought. New gearbox at 6 days old, every time you let foot of accelerator it jumped out of gear.Fortunatly warranty did cover that.

Same as almost everything built, cheapest possible components, put together by the cheapest labour, sold for the highest cost.

I agree....more and more I see form replacing function.

My daughter's Feista has the wet belt system. She's recently spent just under £1k having it replaced.

My Qashqai has a regular dry belt that needs changing at 144k miles if normal driving.
72k if you drive it hard, whatever that means.

The fatally flawed Eco boost wet belt engine. I’d ask Ford for every penny spent .
