Solar Panel mounting

I plan to get a solar panel shortly as we are visiting a number of sites that have not mains hook up.

Has anyone sucessfully permently mounted a panel on top of the caravan or do you just put it outside once on site.

I am concerned that if it not bolted down it will walk as they cost ~£300

Hello Adrian. I used heavy duty Velcro and attach it when on site. I accept that someone 'could' walk away with it but then they'd have to 'down' the awning first to gain access to it!!

I think that it's safer to store the panel away when not in use rather than permanetly fixing it to the roof.

Permanent fixture to the roof means that it is always charging, when in storage, when towing etc. I do not use charging from the car now, only from the solar panel and the on board charger when on mains.
