Sorento tyre pressures

Hi.
I recently bought a "57" plate Sorento 2.5 deisel automatic.
The handbook gives the tyre pressures for the rear as being 35psi solo.
It doesnt however say what to increase them to when towing.
Would 40psi for the rears and about 38psi for the front sound about right?
Also found that after about 150 miles towing and 150 solo,im returning 24mpg (tank filled before and after to brim)
I dont expect outstanding figures taking into account the weight of the car and being permanent 4 wheel drive, but does this figure tally with other Sorento owners out there?
Many thanks,Adrian

I had an 04 and the pressures were 37psi all round and I kept them at that for towing too as the tally plate on the door pillar made no difference between solo light load or full load. It had self levelling suspension and towed just fine. My current car is 38psi all round solo or loaded and not having to keep pumping up large tyres is a boon. Your mpg sounds about right for what is a more powerful engine than mine at 138bhp but the Sorento is not permanent 4wd it drives the rear wheels most of the time unless it senses a speed difference front to back when it moves into 4wd. This it rarely does under normal road conditions.

My 06 2.5 diesel sorento tyre pressures are 35 psi all round solo or towing. Had it about 18 months and it tows very well at that pressure. As otherclive said its great not having to keep blowing them up.

I have owned my Auto for 8 years now and always kept pressures the same as Dustydog, as is stated on door pillar.I have a lightweight van a the moment, but i have found all the vans i have towed with it of varying weights the consumption has varied very little. Towing 22-23, Solo 30-34 depending on terrain wind ect.Just local around Milton Keynes ,the land of roundabouts does drop it to 26.

Hi Birdman
You've beaten me by one year.
We've had our Sorrie 7 years now from new. 106k and still going strong. I've never had a car this long before but as she ticks all the boxes and I don't have a sugar daddy we are now on a crusade to see just how long she will last! Touching wood it's been very cheap reliable motoring.

Compared to the Disco i had before it, it's a gem.Bought Disco new ,6 days later new transfer box, failed first MOT steering,32,000 main gearbox, 56,000 turbo, got rid of it and bought the Sorento. To date accelerator pedal sensor 3,000(under warranty) and EGR valve this May.

When towing the tyre psi remain the same as solo work, your fuel consumption is about right. Please note your car is not perminant 4wd it is selectable or intelligent depending on the spec of the car.

Thanks very much for all your replies.
I didnt realise that it wasnt permanent 4 wheel drive....thanks.
Yes,inside the door pillar,it only gives one pressure all round so I think I will do as suggested and stick to that.(Our vans approx.1350kg when its fully loaded with our belongings etc..so not too heavy and it towed well on our first short outing 2 weeks ago).
Sounds like the fuel consumption is about right too.
Its done 48,000 miles so should be well run in by now.
Thanks once again......most helpful
