south west france

south west coast of france, between bordeaux and biarritz. is the weather in this part of france unpredictable in august. thinking ahead for next year.

We have been ib this area in August & the weather was settled and hot. Cannot speak for other years but we found it lovely. Hope this helps.

Nor, I have been to Landes area several times and going back next August. I personally have always had good weather but there have been signs of heavy rain e.g. moats dug round tents etc. I think it is the same as the rest of europe in that there are good and not so good years, and even good years not all the time.

We stayed at a campsite in Lesperon (J13 N10) 3 years on the trot and generally the weather was quite good, but you're guarenteed a good thunderstorm every few weeks; they tend to roll off the Pyrenees. One year, when we had a trailer tent, the awning had a foot of water in it thanks to the downpour, but it dried up within an hour.
