Spacelite or Ultima 360 Straight Pole on awning rail

We are having problems finding a lightweight awning suitable for our van - we have a Sprite Major older 1993 model - the awning rails are straight for about 2.9 metres and then they slope a lot. Originally we wanted the Ultima 390 for the extra space - but then realised you had to have 3.9m straight rail for this. We are now looking at the Ultima 260 which Ive seen some bad reviews on or the new 2007 Spacelite - but this does not state whether the awning rail has to be straight or if you could set this up on a curve.

Any help would be appreciated - this is our first caravan and we have a lot to learn and appreciate there are more experienced and knowledgable people out there.

Thanks

Trist

Hi, We are about to take our spacelight back to the shop as it leaked badly on our recent holiday in not what I would call extreme weather. Not just on the seams but all over the fabric and it even allowed heavy dew through. It is a brilliant design but unless we are just unlucky with this particular one it is not waterproof.

Hi

I don't know how much your rails slope, but we have a similar problem on our Abbey Vogue. We have the larger base camp model and our main problem is that it doesn't fit tightly up against the van sides, but it is fine otherwise. Generally we haven't found it too bad not to have tight fitting sides, but the rain can come in a bit and we sometimes find that a puddle forms on the roof. May well look at a differant design next time

Hello Trist,

We use the 260 and love it. It takes minutes to put up.

We use it on holidays of less than a week as a place to kick off shoes and wet coats.Haven't had any problems with leaking.Used it last october in terrible weather conditions without any problems.
