we had a small fibre glass part at the bottom of our awning rail cracked due to a football, so we called bailey for a part ,and they said get in touch with your main dealer , so thats what i done ,and when i asked how long will it take ,they said 6 weeks ,now i could understand it if it was an old model ,but its a 7 month old Senator Indiana ,they must fit hundreds every day on there production lines ,so whats to stop them when they deliver a new caravan to the main dealer to give the driver the part to take with him ,the actual dealer is not far from the Bailey factory,or whats to stop them posting it , the actual part only costs £4.00 ,has any body else had this experience or is it just me

Suggestion:

If it's a small part that you can easily remove and refit yourself, why not repair the crack with some Isopon (two different types P-40 or P38 one is for a smooth finish, the other is to fill in big holes) from Halfords?

Spare Body Panels:

This does seem to be an issue with some of the UK manufacturers, where "Just-in-time" / Production Planning / whatever seems to route all the bits to production - so they can make the most vans possible with nothing left over.

It seems that requests for spare panels are relegated to the next production cycle.

Some manufacturers (notably those of imported caravans) do place importance on providing spares in a sensible (guaranteed) time-frame ...

I had a similar delay in spare parts for my van, took 6 weeks to get a new worktop, and upon enquiring from the manufacturer, the answer I was given is that they cannot afford to hold stocks of spares any more.

They order only to satisfy build deadlines, and any request for additional items has to be put on the next deliver date from the part manufacturer.

So, it would seem that all the caravan manufacturers buy in bits and pieces from different suppliers rather than make all the items "in house".
