Spare Snakemaster tightening rod ?

A friend of mine was kind enough to give me his Snakemaster when he upgarded his van to a new Bailey with an ALKO hitch. Unfortunately the tightening rod from the top is missing - does anybody know where I can get a spare or is it a simple metal rod that I could fabricate ?

Jonathan, It is just a straight bar, I used to use a large screwdriver, if I could'nt put my hand on the bar straight away

Hi, for 3 years I used a simple copper bar on a Bulldog stabiliser, not sure about the Snakemaster.

Maybe you could pick one up off ebay ?

I'd just pop round to my local industrial estate and call in at a small engineering workshop.

For the cost of a pint they will cut a foot of round bar for you off their stock.

Don't forget to take the stabiliser with you for size test.

I personally use a construction workers "podger". No it's not that!! It's a 24mm spanner at one end and a spike at the other end, used for lining up holes in girders.

All the best, Steve L.
