can someone help with this please? Aftr checking the caravan at the wekend, I have decided it needs two new tyres. The spare has never been used and looks in mint condition. However, the date on it makes it 10 years old and I'm remembering a thread on tyres where the general concenceous was if it was 10 years old, it was past it's sell by date

Would it be safe to use or am I looking at buying three new tyres?

regards

Aileen

Hello Aileen,

No one on this forum is in a position to confirm or deny the condition of the tyre, simply because we cannot see or test the tyre.

As tyres are fundamental to safety I should assume the worst until a trusted tyre expert has been able to inspect it.

I suggest you take it to your trusted tyre specialist who will advise you accordingly.

Hi Aileen, tyres have a shelf life of up to 6 years, even if not used, so I think you need to change them for peace of mind.

I'm sure if you spent 10 minutes on the phone you would get a good deal for 3 tyres, also there is a web site www.blackcircles.com that seem to be quite competitive (no I don't work for them) I think you order and pay for them online and they are fitted locally.

Regards

Chris
