Spare wheel bike carriers

Hi, has anyone any used one on their spare wheels and are they any good. We have just bought a witter that fitted to the towbar and I am selling it again. It was nowhere near rigid enough in my opinion. We went to a bike shop today and they recommended Peruzzo carriers. They are a good price but I would like other peoples experience of that style of fitting.

I used a Thule "Raider" for many years with Land Rover Defender 110s, to carry two 700 Hybrids.

The Defender 110on alloys has such a poor turning circle I had no issues whatever I did going ahead. Going in reverse was a very different matter and was unsafe without a watcher stood outside to see things did not foul up.

It made an already heavy rear door a handful particularly on cambers; I could not let my wife attempt to use the rear door.
Otherwise this solid quality rack did a good job but its issues lead to giving up and stacking the bikes into the 110s as a lot more practical solution.
