hi everyone i pick up my first caravan on satuarday a elldis avante firestorm 524 it has no spare wheel and i want to buy one before i pick it up i rang the guy for the tyre size it is 195/70/r14 with 15 inch rims is this a normal van size tyre .

Neil, it couldn't possibly be a 195/70/r14 tyre on a 15" rim. The 14 on the tyre size is the size of the rim, so it must be a 14" rim.
Caravans come with different sizes of tyre/rim, but 195/70r14 does appear to be a common size.
The other very important thing to remember is, any tyre you buy MUST have the correct Load index-this is also printed on the side of the tyre.

First of all, there is a contradiction in your information. A 195/70/R14 tyre, as the name implies, fits a 14" rim , not a 15" one. Secondly, details regarding the load factor are missing. This is especially important in the case of caravans as these normally require a higher load rating than conventional car tyres. It is the number on the sidewall of the tyre following the 195/70/R14 and it will probably be somewhere between 94 and 96.
