The only way of getting the actual weight of an individual wheel complete is to weigh it.

Around 40 pounds at a GUESS.
Quite a lot heavier than the alloy.
I noticed when refitting the wheels after the winter layup.

Great many thanks. The reason I was asking is that we have a German Fendt caravan and the spare wheel comes in the front locker. I have since removed it and fitted an AL Ko spare wheel carrier behind the wheel axle. By removing the spare wheel from the front locker I have obviously reduced the weight on the tow bar hence the reaosn behind my query

Many thanks again

Mine is in the front but van is desinged this way and the balance in the van is ok its mutch easyer to get the spare the under slung is a real pain,i think i was quoted 15 to 19kgs by dealer for spare as i was concerned about it in front box.(spare is a 15 inch steel rim)

Putting the spare under the caravan adds the weight of the carrier and a 50/50 chance that when you need it, the carrier will slide out on the side which is punctured and be very difficult to get at. Get a cover for the wheel, and put the caravan spare in the tow car while you are travalling - easy to get to and you have a cover for the dirty wheel you take off. Once on site put the spare under the van locking it to one of the legs with a cycle type anti theft device if you wish,
